We were surprised at how hot it was here, much more so than in Guatemala, but that's due to a small heat wave that's been going through the country. As I write this we're enjoying some cooler weather after a short morning rain shower. [More...] |
Trip to Poland - coming soon!angelina | 14/07/2008 15:21 | Category: Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 112
We want to give a huge THANK YOU to each of you who sent us contributions toward our trip as well as prayers for the Lord's supply. The Lord did it, and we'll be flying out on the 26th of July en-route for Berlin with a stop over in Madrid. In Berlin, Kevin's brother will come to pick us up so it will be a long trip, but one we're looking forward to.
At the moment Kevin is [More...] |
Happy Birthday Aa | angelina | 09/07/2008 08:11 | Category: Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 136 In the past when thinking of having children I always thought I'd want a boy first as I thought any girl living life without an older brother would be missing out.
Although I've heard it's common to have sibling rivalry between brothers and sisters, I don't remember much of anything that would fall into that category with Aaron. [More...] |
Motherhood - 1 | angelina | 06/07/2008 21:18 | Category: Life | Views: 105 Since Adrian turned 6 months old life has taken on a new pace altogether. He's getting more and more personality which makes him so fun to be with, but he also takes a lot more time and attention. Recently the Lord showed me that I should be putting more time into teaching him and pouring into him. Early Learning is something I was deterimined to [More...] |
Sanity Saversangelina | 12/05/2008 10:16 | Category: Thoughts on Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 200
I read this article this morning in this month's Activated magazine. Somehow I'm drawn to all articles on the topic of how to reduce worry and stress. It's a continual struggle to slow down and enjoy the simple things of life in this fast paced world with so much to think about and do. I hope it helps you as it did me.

Is there any chance you might be able to send something towards our trip? However small, it will be a big blessing... [More...] |
Panajachel | angelina | 02/02/2008 21:08 | Category: Guatemala | Views: 337
My parents, who have been visiting us, invited me to go with them to Panajachel - a quaint little tourist town located on the lake Attitlan which is 1500 meters above sea level and is surrounded by three volcanoes. Our trip was only three days, but was so relaxing it truly was a breath of fresh air and gave me renewed inspiration. We started the 4 hour journey at 9:00 after a small set-back as [More...] |
Christmas 2007 - the Real Meaning?angelina | 30/12/2007 18:42 | Category: Thoughts on Life | Views: 334
Christmas has come and gone so quickly that I’m only now
finding time to write something up. As usual, Christmas is an extra busy time
for us as it’s an opportune time to reach out to others, giving a helping hand
to the needy and reminding people of the true meaning of Christmas – Jesus coming
to earth out of love for us. I watched the movie “Christmas on 24th Street”
the other [More...] |

Overview of our Work in Guatemalaangelina | 07/11/2007 12:24 | Category: Guatemala | Views: 378
The Family International is composed of missionaries who operate on an individual, voluntary basis. We have been operating in Guatemala for several years, and currently have two locations in the city that our fulltime volunteers base out of. We live a cooperative communal lifestyle which enables us to make better use of our time, finances and resources.
Our primary goal is that of telling [More...] |
It's a Boy! | angelina | 23/10/2007 11:32 | Category: Life | Comments : 19 | Views: 667 It all started at 3:30 am the 19th of October. I awoke to contractions that felt like the Braxton Hicks one’s I’d been having the day before but they were a bit more uncomfortable – the pain during them was what helped me realize they could be the real thing. However, considering that it could very well be false labor I tried to go back to bed, but as they got a little worse I woke up Kevin an hour after they started. [More...] |
Expecting! - Part 3angelina | 08/10/2007 08:57 | Category: Life | Views: 315 Two weeks to go till my due date and I have a little sneaky feeling that the tiny guy is going to be fashionably late. I feel great, and just went personal witnessing for two hours on the beautiful walking street of "Las Americas" with Kevin yesterday. I'll talk about that in a different article though. It's so cool to be getting to know more of the young people here in Guatemala and being able to lead them to the Lord. [More...] |
Expecting! - Part 2 | angelina | 17/09/2007 18:59 | Category: Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 341 Eight months along with a little boy on the way it seems... After traveling over the past two months, coming home meant having another visit with our doctor, Vanessa. She took my blood pressure, weighed me and then took out her little heart monitor to hear the babies heart beat. The heart monitor is shaped like an old plastic tape recorder with this wire connected to a little piece that she puts on my tummy. I almost hyperventilated when it took a while to hear the heart beat strong and clear, and then when we sort of could, it sounded irregular! After about a minute she stopped and said "Don't worry nothing's wrong with the heart beat, it's just that the monitor is running out of battery power." Thank God! [More...] |
A Month in Chihuahua, Mexico | angelina | 08/09/2007 16:52 | Category: Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 296
Kevin,
Jasmine and I traveled up to Mexico City enroute
to the Mexican state of Chihuahua
on the 13th of July. After a pleasant flight and then a strenuous 28
hour bus ride in a bus that had heating instead of air-conditioning (in the
middle of the Mexican summer) we made it safely to the camp site where 80 of us
would live and get to know each other over the next 32 days.

Trip to Costa Rica, Part 2angelina | 30/07/2007 21:12 | Category: Life | Views: 221
The 25 hour bus ride took us down through El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and then to our final destination of Costa Rica. In this part of the world the word "rica" is used for everything from "delicious" to "wonderful" so we discovered why this country is named quite literally "wonderful coast".
For the majority of our weeks' visit we stayed [More...] |

Kevin and I will be taking the two day bus ride to Costa Rica beginning tomorrow, Monday the 25th. The Lord was so sweet to supply some funds specifically to take some time off after our wedding, sort of like a honeymoon. Many heartfelt thanks to my mom and dad, uncle and aunt; Jay and Sylvie and Gram for your generous gifts towards it.
This will be our first time traveling in Central [More...] |
Goodbye Julie, Christian and Willy | angelina | 16/06/2007 22:04 | Category: Life | Views: 304 People leaving has always been a sad part of life. Moving around as much as I have one might think you get used to loosing people you grow close to, but it never really works that way. Of course you never really loose anyone as you know you'll be able to stay in touch, perhaps visit each other and definitely see each other again in Heaven, but still there's a certain sadness that comes with people moving on. "How to Know when you're a Missionary Kid"angelina | 28/05/2007 11:46 | Category: Life | Comments : 1 | Views: 230
I've read the article "How to know when you're a Missionary kid" several times, but this morning, I picked out a few of my favorites:
You can't answer the question, "Where are you from?"
You flew before you could walk.
The U.S. is a foreign country.
Your life story uses the phrase "Then we went to..." five times.
You think in grams, [More...] |
